So there I was, perusing the interwebs and what do I stumble upon? A couple of images advertising some book called Six Thinking Hats. Now, I don't know about you, but when I heard that title, I immediately pictured six actual hats sitting on someone's head, each one representing a different mode of thinking. Boy was I disappointed when I saw that it was just a book.
The Blue Hat:

First up, we have the Blue Hat. Apparently this hat represents the person who is in charge of managing the thinking process. You know, the one who makes sure everyone stays on topic and doesn't go off on some crazy tangent. I don't know about you, but I wouldn't trust myself with that kind of responsibility. I can barely manage my own thoughts, let alone someone else's.
The White Hat:

Next we have the White Hat. This one is for all the data nerds out there. The people who love nothing more than crunching numbers and analyzing statistics. Now, I'm not saying there's anything wrong with that, but let's be real, it's not the most exciting thing in the world. Unless of course you're trying to prove once and for all that aliens are real. That would be pretty cool.
The Green Hat:

Third on the list is the Green Hat. This hat is for all the creative types out there. You know, the ones who can come up with a dozen different ideas in a matter of minutes. Personally, I think I'd be pretty good at wearing this hat. I mean, I come up with new and innovative ways to avoid doing work all the time. That's got to count for something, right?
The Red Hat:

Fourth up is the Red Hat. This hat represents emotions. That's right, emotions. Because apparently in the world of thinking, emotions play a pretty big role. I don't know about you, but I don't think I could handle wearing this hat. I mean, my emotions are all over the place as it is. If I had to actively think about them too, I'd probably just implode.
The Black Hat:

Fifth on the list is the Black Hat. This one is for all the skeptics out there. You know, the ones who question everything and never believe anything at face value. I have to admit, I'm kind of a skeptic myself. So much so, that I probably wouldn't even believe that this book exists if I hadn't seen it with my own two eyes.
The Yellow Hat:

And last but not least, we have the Yellow Hat. This one is all about positivity. The person wearing this hat is supposed to be the eternal optimist, always seeing the silver lining and looking on the bright side. Now, I'm not saying there's anything wrong with being optimistic, but let's be real, sometimes life just sucks. And no amount of positive thinking is going to change that.
So there you have it folks, the Six Thinking Hats. Will reading this book turn you into a genius? Probably not. But hey, at least you'll look pretty snazzy in your imaginary hats.
